So I'm creating this blog mostly for myself as a tool stay motivated and focused while I'm going to school. I hadn't really thought about being and EMT until recently. Only a year ago did my Aunt tell me about the opportunities and benefits life as an EMT has to offer. So I thought I'd give it a shot. I'll be posting this in the EMTlife.com forums for anyone that would like to read. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Lucky for me, the school I've been attending also has a great EMT program. I reregistered this semester for Advanced First Aide/EME 100. It's a 16 week course only meeting once a week so there should be no issue in keeping up. After browsing though EMTlife, I realize that I have it much easier than most people. It seems like the majority of people going to school to be an EMT have multiple jobs and/or children to worry about.
Aside from having my backpack stolen out of my car, the first meeting was great. Our instuctor(s) has tons of experience in the field and seems to genuninely care that we succeed. The night started off with introductions and then she covered what we will be learning in the course. I wasn't surprised to find out that anything lower than a B in the class is failing. I guess I wouldn't want just and 'average' EMT responding to my emergency. Anyway, there wasn't much more to the night other than some icebreaking activities. I'm really looking forward to diving into the real material next week.
